What our clients have to say
Magical Family Trip to Iceland
Arlene, 2022
My family and I just returned from a magical trip of a lifetime, exploring Iceland with Ingi, our amazing guide from Deluxe Iceland. From the moment we landed until we departed, Ingi took such thoughtful care of every detail. We spent ten days, with adventures that included fly fishing (we caught Arctic Char), boating among ice bergs in a glacial lagoon, hiking volcano crater rims, exploring waterfalls, puffin cliffs on the Westman Islands and bathing in geothermal pools. And every day we enjoyed amazing food, and beautiful hotels. Deluxe Iceland arranged an excellent itinerary and Ingi made sure our every need was taken care of. His knowledge of all things Icelandic made the trip a very rich experience. He even did advance research into my family's ancestral home in Isafjordur prior to our arrival and was able to take us directly to my great grandparents home, from which my family emigrated to Canada in 1898! Ingi's enthusiasm for our itinerary made it so much fun. Deluxe Iceland created a once in a lifetime magical trip for our family--one that we will be talking about for years to come!
Itinerary
When you arrive in Iceland at Keflavik Airport, your private driver will greet you at the arrival hall and take you to your hotel in Reykjavik for early check-in and to get some rest (Approx. drive 45 minutes). In the afternoon your private guide will show you Reykjavik’s most popular highlights. He will take you up to Hallgrimskirkja church tower where you will have a nice panoramic view over the city, Solfar sun voyager, Harpan concert hall, The Old Harbour and Bessastaðir, the home of the president.
On this day you will get right into the action and head straight for the beautiful Icelandic south shore. You will start the day by driving to Seljalandsfoss Waterfall (Approx. drive 1 hour and 50 minutes). Afterwards you will visit the Black Sandy Beach, Reynisfjara and on your way back to Reykjavik you will stop at Skógafoss waterfall, which you can walk right up to. Skógafoss waterfall is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland with a drop of some 60 meters and a withd of 25 meters
On this day you will drive the Golden Circle route, which includes one of Iceland’s most popular places and attractions. You will start with a stop at Kerid Crate Lake, (Approx. drive 1 hour). Kerid crater lake is a 3,000 year old volcanic crater lake. The lake itself is relatively shallow, between 7 and 14 metres depending on rainfall and other factors. After walking around the crater your next stop will be Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls. Afterwards you will stop at Geysir Geothermal Area to see the exploding geysers and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 30 metres (100 ft) into the air every few minutes. On your way back to Reykjavik you will visit the Þingvellir National Park, where you can learn about the world’s first parliament and enjoy a light hike through the park. In the evening you will enjoy an amazing dinner at one of Iceland’s finest restaurants. Before the clock strikes midnight we recommend you take a walk to Hallgrímskirkja church for the best spot in town to enjoy the amazing fireworks.
In the morning, start heading to the amazing Reykjanes Peninsula and stop at Hafnarfjordur for a 3-hour Buggy tour through the lava fields of Reykjanes (Approx. drive 50 minutes).
