Our time in Iceland was spectacular and we owe it to the itinerary planned by Deluxe Iceland. Ours was a 3 generation trip and somehow everyone enjoyed every activity planned by Sig and his team. Our days were filled with adventure, as requested, with trips to glaciers and waterfalls, snowmobiling, dogsledding, ATVing while also seeing the major sites. Every bit of our trip was well scheduled, guides were knowledgeable, on time and kind, excellent accommodations and the country of Iceland was everything it promised to be. Itinerary
When you arrive in Iceland at Keflavik Airport, your private driver will greet you at the arrivals hall and take you to Reykjavik where you can have breakfast. From there, your private guide will take you up to Hallgrimskirkja church tower where you will have a nice panoramic view over the city, Solfar sun voyager, Harpan concert hall, The Old Harbour and Bessastaðir the home of the president and show you around Reykjavik most popular highlights.
In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel and taken to Reykjavik Domestic Airport for your private helicopter tour and have the chance to see our beautiful country from above. The Helicopter tour will take about 1 hour with one landing.*Please note that the helicopter tour is depending on the weather conditions and can be rescheduled due to weather. In case the helicopter tour is canceled we will offer you to hike to the newly active volcanic eruption site. Optional: Private Hike to the Volcanic Eruption (Duration 3 – 4 hours) Enjoy a hike to the volcanic eruption to see the eruption site from a different angle. The hike will take approximately 1 – 1,5 hours each way and the trail is conveniently marked. This is an ideal hike if the weather conditions are good. Come aboard a luxurious yacht and see the incredible wealth of marine wildlife that lives in the waters just off the shores of Reykjavík City. Nature lovers looking to see some of Iceland’s majestic whales, dolphins, and porpoises. However, there is always a chance to spot a few orcas (also known as killer whales) as well as a wealth of other species. Visit the islands of Engey, Lundey and Viðey, you’ll have a chance to get up close to colonies of endearing puffins and many other migrating bird species, as well as enjoying the extraordinary backdrop of the majestic Mount Esja and the city’s colorful skyline.
On this day you will drive the Golden Circle route, which includes one of Iceland’s most popular places and attractions. You will start with a stop at Þingvellir National Park, where you can learn about the world’s first parliament and enjoy a light hike through the park (Approx. drive 55 minutes). You will head to Geysir Geothermal Area to see the exploding geysers and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 30 metres (100 ft) into the air every few minutes. Afterwards you will visit Gullfoss Waterfall one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls before heading for a nice private dinner at Fridheimar Tomato Farm. After all this, your guide will take you to your lodge for the night.
In the morning you will be picked up by a helicopter at the Eldar Lodge. This action-packed day brings you the ultimate sample of Iceland’s natural and cultural highlights. From stunning glaciers, volcanoes, and waterfalls, to marvels of human history and engineering, you will see, feel, and understand what makes Iceland so unique. This sightseeing tour will surprise you with aerial views of the famous Golden Circle, as well as the vast Landmannalaugar region. Follow a trail of towering waterfalls as they drop out of the mountains, to black sandy coastlines of newborn volcanic islands before landing up on Eyjafjallajökull – the infamous glacier that erupted in 2010. Top the day by going on one-hour snowmobiling on the glacier. Back in the air, you will head to Landmannalaugar Highlands where you will land amongst the lava fields for a private lunch. Your private chef will cook up an incredible meal in the middle of the amazing wilderness. Afterward you will head back to the Eldar Lodge for the day, where you will relax and unwind after all the adventure before having a nice dinner.
In the morning start heading to the amazing Reykjanes Peninsula and stop at Hafnarfjordur for a 3-hour Buggy tour through the lava fields of Reykjanes (Approx. drive 2 hours). After the thrilling ride through the rugged landscape, you will take a look at Gunnuhver hot spring, Reykjanesviti, and the bridge between two continents. Afterwards you will take a one-hour tour through the lava fields before checking into The Retreat Hotel at the Blue Lagoon to unwind and relax after the day.
You will have the whole day to relax and enjoy everything that the Retreat at the Blue Lagoon has to offer before your departure from Iceland.
On the last day you will be picked up by a private driver and driven to the airport in time for your flight. *You have to be at Keflavik airport 2 hours before departure.
