The Retreat Spa at Blue Lagoon

The Retreat Spa at Blue Lagoon

Everyone that have heard about Iceland know the Blue lagoon! But not everyone know about the new Retreat spa that just opened in 2018, it’s a part of the Luxurious and first five start hotel in Iceland Retreat hotel that was built into the lava landscape.

If you are planning to go to the blue lagoon but you’re not a person that likes to be in big crowds then this is the way to go!  This is more private, with your own locker room and more luxury experience with options of in-water treatments. The Retreat Spa only allows limited number of people in at each time in order for the experience to stay unique and relaxing for everyone visiting this wonder of the world. There is a restaurant in the Spa if you want to have a light meal and you can stay up to four hours in the Spa.

  • Day 1 - Arrival via the Blue Lagoon

When you arrive in Iceland at Keflavik Airport, your private driver will greet you at the arrival hall and take you to relax in the Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa. Where you will have access to the Retreat Spa and soak in geothermal waters. There is a restaurant in the Spa if you want to have a light meal. You can stay up to four hours in the Spa.  After lunch your private driver will take you to your hotel in Reykjavik.

  • Day 2 - Glymur Mountain Hike

On this day you will head into Hvalfjordur where you will hike up to Iceland’s second tallest waterfall called Glymur. The hike is of medium difficulty, going through a natural cave and crossing a river on a big tree trunk before needing to climb a fairly steep mountainside.  (Approx hike to top 2 – 2,5 hours)

On top of the waterfall you will enjoy a glass of champagne while admiring the stunning views before going down and heading back to your hotel in Reykjavik.

  • Day 3 - The Westman Islands

The Westman Islands are often overlooked by travellers, which is understandable, us living on the mainland sometimes forget it exists too, but it’s definitely a place worth visiting. Heimaey is the only one of the islands that is inhabited, Heimaey and from there the entire population had to evacuate in 1973 due to a massive volcanic eruption.

You will take the ferry to the Westman Islands and enjoy the day exploring this amazing Island, the island is rich in history but also happen to be where you’ll find the world’s largest puffin colony, giving you an opportunity to visit these adorable little fellas in their natural habitat, visit the volcano museum located on the Island and enjoying amazing dinner at Slippurinn Restaurant before heading back to the mainland for the day.

  • Day 4 - Eyjafjallajökull Snowmobiling, Lava Center & Local Farm

You will start the day by stopping at the Lava Center at Hella before visiting a local farm to get familiar with the Icelandic farm life and enjoy a cup of coffee and Icelandic Pancakes and afterwards top the day by  going snowmobiling up on Eyjafjallajökull the infamous glacier that erupted in 2010.

At the Lava center you will visit the exhibition halls and use the interactive displays to discover the colossal and complex natural forces that shape the Earth and began to create Iceland tens of millions of years ago.

  • Day 5 - Inside the Volcano

Start the day by heading back to Reykjavik on the way you will stop at the Blue Mountains where you are going to have the unique chance of descending 400 feet to the bottom of a dormant volcano in an open cable lift. There is a really nice hike leading up to the volcano. *Approx 40 minutes each way.

  • Day 6 - RIB Whale & Puffin Watching & Iceland Dinner Experience

On this day you will start in the morning heading out from Reykjavik Old Harbour in search for the wildlife and explore seas on the adventure of a lifetime.  You will be in a specially engineered RIB boat to get you closer and faster to the whales and puffins than bigger boats. These stable and safe boats also allow us to search a bigger area, thus increasing your likelihood of viewing the whales, dolphins and birdlife. (Duration 2 hours)

First you ride out to one of three islands close to the harbour and check out the breeding puffins (season 15 May – 15 August). Next you head out further in search of whales and dolphins. Seeing the wildlife as up close as you can from our RIB boats is a once in a lifetime adventure and experience. After exploring the wonders of the sea you will sail back to Reykjavík, where you will ride along the city shore line. Along the coast you will have views of the city from a unique angle, Sólfarið viking ship sculpture and mesmerising Harpa Concert Hall.

In the evening you will enjoy a nice complementary Iceland dinner experience, travel with us on a journey around Iceland in a seasonal influenced menu. The best and freshest ingredients from all over the island will tantalize your tastebuds in a trip sure to live long in your memory.

  • Day 7 - Departure

On the last day you will be picked up by a private driver and driven to the airport in time for your flight. *You have to be at Keflavik airport 2 hours before departure.
