Itinerary
When you arrive in Iceland at Keflavik Airport, your private driver will greet you at the arrival hall and take you to relax in the Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa. Where you will have access to the Retreat Spa and soak in geothermal waters. There is a restaurant in the Spa if you want to have a light meal. You can stay up to four hours in the Spa. After lunch your private driver will take you to your hotel in Reykjavik.
On this day you will head into Hvalfjordur where you will hike up to Iceland’s second tallest waterfall called Glymur. The hike is of medium difficulty, going through a natural cave and crossing a river on a big tree trunk before needing to climb a fairly steep mountainside. (Approx hike to top 2 – 2,5 hours) On top of the waterfall you will enjoy a glass of champagne while admiring the stunning views before going down and heading back to your hotel in Reykjavik.
The Westman Islands are often overlooked by travellers, which is understandable, us living on the mainland sometimes forget it exists too, but it’s definitely a place worth visiting. Heimaey is the only one of the islands that is inhabited, Heimaey and from there the entire population had to evacuate in 1973 due to a massive volcanic eruption. You will take the ferry to the Westman Islands and enjoy the day exploring this amazing Island, the island is rich in history but also happen to be where you’ll find the world’s largest puffin colony, giving you an opportunity to visit these adorable little fellas in their natural habitat, visit the volcano museum located on the Island and enjoying amazing dinner at Slippurinn Restaurant before heading back to the mainland for the day.
You will start the day by stopping at the Lava Center at Hella before visiting a local farm to get familiar with the Icelandic farm life and enjoy a cup of coffee and Icelandic Pancakes and afterwards top the day by going snowmobiling up on Eyjafjallajökull the infamous glacier that erupted in 2010. At the Lava center you will visit the exhibition halls and use the interactive displays to discover the colossal and complex natural forces that shape the Earth and began to create Iceland tens of millions of years ago.
You will start the day by heading to the amazing Reykjanes Peninsula to enjoy a hike to the volcanic eruption to see the eruption up close and personal. The Land of Fire and Ice is once again living up to its name! Starting on March 19th the new eruption is in Geldingadalur valley, just south of Fagradalsfjall volcano, gleaming lava can be found running in molten rivers and spurting in spectacular jets. The hike will take approximately 1 – 2 hours each way, depending on how close you want to get, and the trail is conveniently marked. This is an ideal hike if the weather conditions are good. This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience and should not be missed. Afterwards you will head to Reykjavik.
Come aboard a luxurious yacht and see the incredible wealth of marine wildlife that lives in the waters just off the shores of Reykjavík City. Nature lovers looking to see some of Iceland’s majestic whales, dolphins, and porpoises. The most common sights are minke and humpback whales, dolphins, and porpoises. However, there is always a chance to spot a few orcas (also known as killer whales) as well as a wealth of other species, and don’t forget. Visit the islands of Engey, Lundey and Viðey, as well as enjoying the extraordinary backdrop of the majestic Mount Esja and the city’s colorful skyline.
On the last day you will be picked up by a private driver and driven to the airport in time for your flight. *You have to be at Keflavik airport 2 hours before departure.
