What our clients have to say
Awesome solo trip
January 2, 2024
Unexpectedly had a solo trip to Iceland (my daughter got sick and couldn't go) and Deluxe Iceland made my trip absolutely amazing. Unnar was an amazing guide, he went above and beyond to make sure my trip was nothing short of spectacular. I didn't have to worry about a thing, they took care of everything and customized my trip perfectly. I'm going back in Oct with my daughter, and I can't wait to see what they plan for us. I highly recommend Deluxe Iceland; you will not be disappointed.
Itinerary
When you arrive in Iceland at Keflavik Airport, your private driver and Deluxe Iceland representative will greet you at the arrival hall and take you to Reykjavik to pick-up your rental car and go through your trip itinerary in detail with you at your hotel. After settling in you will have the rest of the day to explore this northernmost capital city of the world with its abundance of museums, restaurants and bars to suit all tastes.
On this day you will drive the Golden Circle route, which includes one of Iceland’s most popular places and attractions. You will start with a stop at Þingvellir National Park, where you can learn about the world’s first parliament and enjoy a light hike through the park (Approx. drive 55 minutes). You will head to Geysir Geothermal Area to see the exploding geysers and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 30 metres (100 ft) into the air every few minutes. Afterwards you will visit Gullfoss Waterfall – one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls, before your guide will take you to your hotel in South Iceland for the night.
On this day you will start by driving to Seljalandsfoss waterfall before heading to Skógafoss Waterfall. There you can take time to catch the perfect photo with this amazing waterfall and take 527 steps up to the observation platform above Skógafoss. Next you will stop at Reynisfjara black sand beach where you can see the jagged basalt rock formations of Reynisdrangar and Dyrhólaey. Visit the small town of Vík and enjoy the stunning views before heading back to your hotel for the night.
On this day you will drive to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon where you will enjoy everything the lagoon has to offer. Go on an exciting boat trip, sailing among the huge icebergs in the picturesque scenery of Jökulsárlón. On the boat you get to taste the1000 year old ice and if you are lucky you might even see seals.
On this day you will start to drive to the Eastfjords of Iceland. East Iceland is characterized by small villages, dramatic coastlines, narrow fjords, waterfalls and mountains. The nature is always close and the scenery is breathtaking. The first stop of the day will be at Vestrahorn or Vesturhorn or Stokksnes – these are all names for this same place. The Horn area is below Vestra-Horn, a 454-meter-high mountain. It is an interesting geological site composed of un-stratified plutonic rock, mostly gabbro but with some granophyre. East of the mountain is a strange-shaped outcrop called Brunnhorn that stretches out to sea. You will also visit the remote Viking village there. On the way to Fosshotel Eastfjords you will make a stop at Djúpivogur. You might not recognize the name of this place but this is one of the most photographed spots in the region. By the harbour in this lovely little village, you will find a bay called Merry bay. In that bay you will find a distinctive outdoor artwork hidden away from sight. The outside artwork consists of 34 huge granite eggs which represent the eggs of each of the nesting birds in this area. Next you will visit Petra’s Stone Mineral Collection Stöðvarfjörður before heading back to Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon for the night. *Please note this is a long day of driving
On this day you will go to the Skaftafell wilderness area in Iceland’s Vatnajökull National Park. Its huge glaciers include Skaftafellsjökull and Svinafellsjökull that makes this a unique sight with trails leading up to the amazing Svartifoss Waterfall. You will continue your journey towards capital area and stay in South Iceland for the night.
In the morning you will start heading back to Reykjavik with a stop at the Lava Tunnel. Explore the magnificent Lava Tunnel, Raufarholshellir, one of the longest and best-known lava tubes in Iceland. It is located just 35 minutes from Reykjavik and is easily accessible all year round. A journey into The Lava Tunnel is a unique experience and a great opportunity to witness the inner workings of a volcanic eruption, as one walks in the path of lava that flowed 5.200 years ago. You will spend the entire afternoon relaxing and discovering Reykjavik. Your hotel is located downtown near all the main shops and attractions. Therefore, it is very easy to wander around and explore at your own pace.
On your last day in Iceland you will drive the backroad called Sudurstrandarvegur on your way to relax at the Blue Lagoon before your departure. Where you will have premium access to the Blue Lagoon to soak in geothermal waters in one of the wonders of the world. Afterwards, you will drop your rental car off at Keflavik Airport and check in for your flight.
